Isle of Wight volunteers are being asked to lend a hand this coming bank holiday, as events get underway to mark the coronation of King Charles III.

The Big Help Out is a national volunteering campaign, taking place on Monday, May 8.

As hundreds of organisations across the Island - and country - get together  to celebrate, there will be opportunities for everyone to join in.

The IW Volunteer Centre said: "On the Isle of Wight we are lucky to have many fantastic events, both large and small, and most of these rely heavily on volunteers.

"You can help these events to survive by giving up some of your time to volunteer.

"If you have never volunteered, this can be a great way to see if you enjoy volunteering, without too much commitment."

How to get involved:

  • More information can be found on the website.

The centre has put together a list of volunteering activities, including litter picks and trial sessions at charity shops.

There are also listings of one-off events that are looking for volunteers.

In addition, a free social event is being held at the Riverside Centre on Wednesday, May 10.

Islanders can chat to existing volunteers and hear from local organisations who are looking for more.
