An Isle of Wight dance school took home an incredible 73 medals and trophies from a recent competition.

Denise Palmer is the principal dance teacher at Freestyle Dance Academy in Newport and has been teaching on the Island for 38 years.

She runs her classes at Nine Acres Primary School and her students enter competitions all over the country.

At the Follow Your Dream dance championships in Clacton on Sea, the academy students and teachers were amazed and proud to bring home a huge haul of 73 medals and trophies.

The weekend events included freestyle fast dance, slow modern dance, street dance and rock 'n' roll.

Denise said: "My dancers entered all these categories and I am delighted to say they were all finalists.

"They had worked so hard and made us as teachers very proud.

"The icing on the cake was Annie Brown winning the overall weekend show dance championship in her section.

"These dancers represented the Isle of Wight with much pride and success."

Denise is also very proud of Grace Edmunds, a pupil of hers since the age of three, who has secured a place at Addict Dance College in Leicester.

Two dancers were missing from the photo. They are Izzabelle Gilbert and Maci Gissing.
