A MAN and three dogs perished in a fire which engulfed a house in a sleepy Isle of Wight village earlier this week.
The unnamed man in his 40s died following fire at a Grade II-listed property in Gaggerhill Lane, Brighstone, on Tuesday.
The County Press has been told his three dogs also perished in the incident.
Firefighters from Newport, Freshwater, Yarmouth, Cowes, Shanklin and Ventnor were all called to the scene at 2am.
Police and an ambulance also attended.

Using an aerial ladder, firefighters worked through the night to try to control the fire and stop it spreading from the roof to nearby properties.
Residents living near to the burning property were evacuated as a precaution.
They were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area.
