NO EVIDENCE of a sexual assault was found after a town centre incident, police have said.
A woman in her 20s attended Royal Bournemouth Hospital with minor injuries following an incident in the early hours of Wednesday, April 10.
Police said they had reason to believe the woman was sexually assaulted in Fir Vale Road, opposite Cameo nightclub, that morning.
A cordon was placed around part of the pavement and, following “extensive” enquiries by officers, no evidence of an assault was found.
A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said: “Following extensive enquiries, including checking available CCTV footage in Fir Vale Road at the relevant time, no evidence was found in relation to the report.
“Officers liaised with the victim and she does not wish the case to proceed at this time.
“We would like to reassure that any victims of sexual assault will be treated with respect and dignity and we will always investigate such reports thoroughly and sensitively.”
