Hertford 138

Old Millhillians 139-8

Old Millhillians continued their successful start to their first Hertfordshire League Premier Division campaign with a two-wicket win over Hertford on Saturday that takes them to third in the table.

Hertford, who won the toss and elected to bat were soon in trouble against the the accurate bowling of Tony Alderton, whose splendid 20-over stint was rewarded with 4-48, Adam Webster (2-20), and Jamie Hollebone (2-55).

Hertford's total of 138 looked an easy challenge but OMs, despite a solid opening partnership of 63 between Will Knight (40) and Alastair Owen-Browne, found runs equally difficult to come by and wickets fell at regular intervals.

Owen-Browne batted for 3hr 10min for a painstaking 49 not out which saw Millhillians home to score a narrow win with two wickets to spare.

A weakened OMs' second team put up an excellent performance against the early league leaders, Hertford II.

Arshad Shafi (80) led the way with a fine innings, and Charlie Low took six for 28, but OMs were unable to claim the last wicket.

OMs II 166 (A Shafi 80, P Ridout 35), Hertford II 124-9 (C Low 6-28, M Copley 3-36).
