COWES WEEKA BUSY day is planned for day five of Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week today (Wednesday).

The Extreme 40 Sailing Series continues as does the second race in the three-race Big Boat Series.

Niklas Zennstrom and team aboard Ran will be hoping to repeat their winning performance from yesterday where they beat Andres Soriano’s Mini Maxi, Alegre.

Michael Bartholomew in his Mark Mills-designed King 40 will also be hoping to bag another win today in IRC 1, for the prestigious New York Yacht Club Challenge Cup.

Elsewhere the battle continues in all fleets with Giles Peckham’s Daring, Dauntless, currently leading White Group overall, and Nicolas Gaumont-Prat’s First 40.7, Tradition Philosophie IV, heading the Black Group.

Back on shore this evening, one of the key events is the Toe in the Water curry night.

Toe in the Water is the event’s official charity, which uses sailing to aid the rehabilitation of injured servicemen.

Tonight’s curry will be cooked by The Queen's Own Gurkha Logistics Regiment, and the tickets are £12.
