INDOOR CRICKETAFTER the high scoring of last weekend, the bowlers took a more influential role in this week’s round of matches in the Harwoods Over-45s Indoor Cricket League.
Top of the pile was Robbie Tillbrook with a superb 4-15, as Warriors were skittled out for 87 as they chased Bandits’ total of 153. For Bandits, Paul Biddlecombe (45) and Andy White (29) were the top scorers.
Warriors’ Steve Brown was top bowler, with 3-36.
This win, with two bonus points, puts Bandits as early league leaders.
Meanwhile, Fighting Cocks moved into second place with an excellent bowling performance restricting the Hurricanes, last year’s champions, to 100-3. Mick Bartlett (35 not out) and Dalloz (25 not out) were the only batsmen to look comfortable.
Mark Ringer, with an unbeaten 28, led the reply. Simon Wratten, took two excellent caught and bowled efforts.
Harwoods Hunters led by Mark West (31) and Paul Hunt (35) posted 117 against Majors.
But Majors stumbled and with five run outs stalling their reply. Tony Cook posted another good score of 25 but it was left to Steve Reading to try to score the winning runs, as Paul Hunt bowled a 12-ball last over.
Majors eventually fell for 115, just two runs short.
