LETTER From H. Caddick, Bembridge:THANK you so much for your article and photo, last week about the chipmunk in Alverstone. On the morning of Thursday, June 21, I took my dog and daughter for a walk along the cycletrack from Alverstone. On returning to my car, an animal three inches long, with stripes down its back and a grey fluffy tail ran across my foot. It looked like a chipmunk. I later explained this to my husband, who told me I was an idiot, as chipmunks don’t live in the UK. I said maybe it was a toad as it definitely had stripes, which then invited more ridicule. So imagine how pleased I was to show him the picture and article in the paper on Friday.
