BY SUFFERING their second single-goal defeat in four days, Cowes missed the chance to close the gap on the league leaders in Sydenhams Wessex League, Division 1.
Cowes started brightly, looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat at Team Solent and with just six minutes gone were awarded a penalty after Darren Williams was tripped in the box.
However, the normally reliable top-scorer Dom Burbidge saw his spot kick saved.
Cowes had chances through Josh Appell and skipper Gareth Bricknell but the half remained goalless.
In the second half, Cowes still looked sluggish and were made to pay in the 65th minute when a tackle by Ashley Brett just outside the box was judged to have been inside and Tadley were awarded a spot kick of their own which Peter White converted.
Although Cowes huffed and puffed they rarely threatened an equaliser, Burbidge having a shot well saved while a last-gasp effort from Patrick Wilson hit the side netting and a second successive defeat was recorded.
