FOOTBALLBrading Town 1, East Cowes Vics 2

A STOPPAGE-time strike from Simon WILLIAMS knocked Brading Town out of the IW Senior (Gold) Cup, and put East Cowes Vics into next week’s final.

Brading made the perfect start, scoring in the 16th minute when an unmarked Jordan BROWNE netted from ten yards. After that, the play was fairly even, with defences dominating the play.

Rain lashed down for the second half and Vics played with more pressure and determination, which paid off five minutes from the restart when Matt EVANS drove a low shot past Gareth True.

The match looked to be heading to extra time but, in the sixth minute of injury time, Williams lobbed True from just outside the penalty box to win the game.

Brading Town: True, Quigley, Lewis, Stuber, Fleming, Younie, Ford, Lawson, Browne, Hayward, Wilson. Sub: Buckett.

East Cowes Vics: Brownrigg, Shepherd, O’Connor, Sunsberg, Yelland, Adams, Watson, Newnham, Evans, Williams, Knowles.
