COWES Sports beat the big freeze before thrashing Hythe and Dibden in Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League today (Saturday).
The Yachtsmen were the only IW senior side in action today, after the cold weather caused the postponement of matches for Brading Town, Newport and East Cowes Vics.
And Cowes scored enough goals for all of them, as they strolled to a 6-0 victory in the freezing conditions.
Goals from Jimmy Wykes and Dominic Burbidge put the side comfortably ahead in the first half, with second-half strikes for Burbidge, Wykes and two for Josh Appell completing the rout.
Thanks to the cold weather almost all of the IW Saturday League was off, with just six games going ahead, while in rugby, all first team matches were off.
