FOOTBALLAmesbury Town 2, East Cowes Vics 5

VICS continued their winning ways after coming from behind to defeat Amesbury Town on Saturday.

The Island side made a bright start, having an early penalty claim denied before a good chances fell to Freddie Knowles and Joe Adams.

With ten minutes to go before the break, Amesbury took the lead when Tom Wheeler slotted home, but two minutes later, Vics were back level when Adam SHEPHERD ran unchallenged and unleashed an unstoppable shot.

With the momentum behind them, Vics then took the lead just before half time when Wayne NEWNHAM latched onto a defensive error and fired home.

In the second half, Vics created plenty more chances through Joe Adams, who hit the post and Newnham. With an hour gone they extended their lead when Matt EVANS’S low shot crept over the line, before Freddie KNOWLES got in on the act with a curling shot.

With ten minutes left, Amesbury narrowed the gap but Vics had the final say when KNOWLES scored his second of the game.
