CHINNOR Sports were in seventh heaven on Sunday after they managed to draw their game with only seven players.

The Sunday Combination Division One side were without four players and fielded an injured goalkeeper but still pulled off an amazing 2-2 draw against Priority Insurance Dynamos.

Captain for the day Alvin Evans said it was an amazing performance.

He said: "At the end of the match, it was total exhilaration. The fact that we'd got a 2-2 draw and the fact we were so shattered, made it so exhilarating.

"After 90 minutes, our legs ached, our chests ached, our voices ached but the exhilaration of drawing.

"It was like winning a cup final."

Chinnor were reduced to seven after a number of injuries and two men away on a stag night.

Evans said: "When we realised we only had seven, we thought, 'Well we can't afford the fine so we'll have to go and play,'."

Chinnor feared the worst after playing Priority Insurance twice this season, drawing in the league and losing in the cup.

Evans said: "Not letting in ten: that was our aim."

But, even with outfield player Simon Lazarak in goal with a sprained ankle, Priority could only score twice in the first half, leaving Chinnor with a chance.

"At half-time, we were so exhausted," Evans said. "We just lay on our backs thinking, 'It's not going to be ten,'."

But early in the second half, Chinnor were handed a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty for handball.

Top scorer Lee Anning took it and Chinnor were back in it.

And their hopes turned into fantasy when, with 15 minutes left, Evans' cross found Anning and he put it away to take Chinnor level.

They clung on and got a fantastic point.

Evans said: "It was amazing. It was one of those games you remember for the rest of your lives."

In the Oxfordshire Cup Semi-Final Chinnor Exiles went down 2-1 to Kidlington side Six Bells. An even first half saw Bells score first on 25 minutes with a soft Kevin Janes' shot deceive Exiles' static defence, low and to the left. Ten minutes later and the new Oriental signing, Maz, floated a superb free kick on the right to the far post where Ben Morgan headed brilliantly for the equaliser.

After the break Exiles had much the upper hand but on 70 minutes, a hotly disputed free kick was awarded to Six Bells and Kevin Gill's fierce low shot struck the base of the left-hand post, flew across the goal to hit the right-hand post and into the net for what was to be a winning goal.
