LETTERSFrom Felicity Young, Ventnor:
REGARDING the ducks and ducklings in the park, it seems that thinking about this is confused.
The stream and confines are not ideal in that they don’t provide adequate protection for the young ducklings.
It would seem that a small addition of a raised duck house would enable some ducklings to survive. Surely this is not a costly item?
The confusion is that we feed the ducks and look after them and then cease to look after them, leaving them to see their young killed.
As a tourist town, they are an attraction to the park and we need our tourists. Let’s stop this carnage and while we’re at it, in the country, crows used to be culled by the gamekeeper but that’s another question.
