Yeading 2

Harrow Borough 2

Harrow's final Ryman League fixture of the season saw them held by Yeading, after leading 2-0, only to concede two goals in the last seven minutes.

The result meant that Boro ended in mid-table at 12th, but Yeading were relegated to the First Division by virtue of the fact that they had scored less goals than Bishop's Stortford after they finished level on points.

Boro were without injured Webster, Gavin and Ekoku, with Lord, Brown and Frank McCormack their replacements.

Playing down the slope, backed by a strong wind, Boro kept Yeading penned in their own half. McCormack had a 25-yard shot deflected wide, before Boro were subjected to some robust challenges.

McCormack had better luck with a 25-yard drive which beat keeper Honey's dive and flew just inside the post, giving Harrow a 33rd-minute lead.

Eager to build on their advantage, Boro saw Paul Adolphe's skilful run open the path for Coleman, whose 25-yard shot flew narrowly wide.

Returning to their unseemly antics, Yeading had Gell cautioned when he kicked out at Hook, who had gathered the ball.

An ironic twist saw Boro double their lead after 69 minutes. No sooner had Yeading substituted their left back then Boro right winger Micky Tomlinson was left completely unmarked to volley home Xavier's cross, following good work by Lord and Bates.

The gap should have been extended to three, but when Xavier's cross was palmed out, Bates had his shot blocked and the ball was scrambled away.

With 01 minutes left, Yeading at last discovered some urgency, and when Pickett sent over a cross in the 83rd minute, Kellman was left unmarked to net from close range.

Two minutes later came a sloppy equaliser that set up what could have been a tense finish. Following Carter's aimless pass, Coleman looked in control, but when he failed to clear, Pickett nipped in and was fouled by Coleman, Pickett scoring from the spot.

It was a low key way for Boro to end the season, but encouragement could be taken from the their much-improved final position in the table compared with the previous season.

HARROW BOROUGH: Hook, Lord, Nwaokolo, Coleman, Paris, Adolphe, Tomlinson, McCormack, Brown (Ekoku), Xavier, Bates. Subs: James, McGarrell.
