LETTERS From Caroline Ford, Newport:
PLEASE bring back the "of" in the Isle of Wight.
I have lived on the Isle of Wight off and on for nine years and I am proud of that fact and always refer to us, as did numerous residents and companies, as being IOW.
But I have become increasingly dismayed that we suddenly seem to have dropped the "of" and have been renamed IW. I have noticed many companies have now abbreviated their name to IW, including the council on one of their many recorded messages.
Why? Is this the new trendy way? But the charm of the Island is its uniqueness and it being an island.
I don’t live on the Isle Wight I live on the Isle of Wight! So please bring back the two-letter word that makes a huge difference.
Am I the only person who finds this annoying?
