HARWOODS Vauxhall is helping to raise money for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Southampton General Hospital with its support of a Friends of PICU Golf Event at Osborne Golf Club, on Monday, October 29.
The Wootton-based dealership is donating a Vauxhall Corsa Limited Edition as a prize for anyone who gets a hole in one at the sixth hole on the day.
The event is being organised by grandmother and Harwoods customer, Joan Dalrymple, whose grandson, George, recently underwent emergency heart by-pass surgery at the hospital in Southampton.
The Friends of PICU charity exists to raise money to support the unit, children and their families during what is a traumatic time. It also provides vital funding for equipment and services which are not usually provided solely by the NHS.
Joan said: "I am pleased to be raising money for a charity that is so close to my heart and hope the golf day will help to provide all-important funds to help other children like George.
"I would like to invite anyone who is interested to book their place for a great day of golf and a very worthwhile cause. I would also like to thank businesses such as Harwoods Vauxhall for donating some fantastic prizes, as well as Osborne Golf Club."
Paul Hunt, sales director at Harwoods Vauxhall, said: "We are delighted to be helping to support the charity golf day for one of our valued customers and we wish Joan all the best of luck in raising funds for such a commendable charity."
The PICU faced difficulty earlier this year when it was on the NHS closure list, despite being ranked as the second best in the country. But following the resistance of residents in the South of England, including the Channel Islands and IW, a decision was made on July 4 for the unit to remain open.
Entry for the charity golf event is £20 per person and includes men’s, ladies’ and mixed 18-hole games, as well as food and refreshments. Raffles, stalls and many prizes, including the Vauxhall Corsa Limited Edition from Harwoods, should make it a great fun day for the whole family.
