Choir sing to help preserve church

MUSIC AROUND 100 people attended a fundraising concert at Holy Trinity Church, Ryde.

The event was organised by the Phoenix Choir, who were raising money towards maintenance costs of the church.

The group, who formed two years ago, feature around 50 singers under the direction of Robin Burnett and performed a variety songs, from Pavarotti to Elvis Presley, with classic harmonies. The concert raised £320 for the church.

The next event takes place at St Saviour’s Church, Shanklin, on Thursday, July 5, in aid of The Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

The group hopes to attract a large audience and raise several hundred pounds.
