ISLAND singer-songwriter Emmy J Mac missed out on a spot at this year's Isle of Wight Festival, after competing at a Battle of the Bands event in London last night (Wednesday).

She was one of 12 acts taking part in the Isle of Wight Festival Unsigned competition final, held at The Halfmoon, in Putney, following a nationwide search for fresh young talent.

The winning bands were rock act Tank Trap, who will play the Main Stage, Louise Golbey, Chidi, Cable Street Collective and XOVA.

Overall winners were indie band Crystal Seagulls, who won a spot in the Big Top and a recording contract.

Following the competition Emmy said on Twitter: "Well, we didnlt win, but what a great night of music.

"Proud to have been on the same stage with some of the UK’s hottest talent."

I just hoped that John Giddings voted for her, it'll be a shame to see him not vote for islanders that like to give it a try .... Don't get sucked in by the high life john.
