The legendary late Denis Compton, who learnt his cricket at Bell Lane would have been proud of the boys and girls from the Hendon school who carried off the trophy in the Barnet area Wrigley Tournament at Barnet CC.

They went on to contest the Middlesex Inter-Borough event at Finchley CC, but were out of luck. Beaten by Brent by seven runs, they also lost narrowly to Haringey when their batsman was out hit wicket off the last ball.

Though Bell Lane beat Ealing, they were eliminated and missed out on the chance to play at Egbaston in the National Championships.

Two girls, Rina Bhudia and Rebekkah Abraham shared five wickets, and Eddie Morrison was top scorer with 46 runs. A third girl in the squad was Chrystelle Nyakeru.

David Miitchinson, twins Jamie and Andrew Diston and Avi Nash Harani and Syde Khan were also squad members.

Hrishi Vadagama won the Tom Walters/Marian Morrison Trophy for the most runs and wickets during the year.

The Denis Compton Trophy for the most improved player will be presented in the near future.
