A pop-up hit for school

Isle of Wight chefs Scott Barton and Darren Beavers preparing food for the event at St Catherine's School.

FINE dining with a spring theme was served pop-up style in aid of an Isle of Wight charity.

The Hambrough treated guests to St Catherine’s School, Ventnor, with a sumptuous luncheon, created from local produce, on Sunday.

Around £1,000 was raised in aid of the school, which supports children and young people with speech, language and communication needs.

The spring-themed menu, created by head chef Darren Beevers and his team, who gave their time for free, featured IW lamb and asparagus.

Each course was expertly matched with wines from the Island Wine Company.

Jazz pianist Jim Thorn played to accompany the meal.

Rachel Thomson, head of business and charity at St Catherine’s School, said: "This is the second time we have had the pleasure of holding a pop-up lunch with The Hambrough.

"It was another special occasion and we were delighted to receive the support of The Hambrough and The Island Wine Company."
