FIREFIGHTERS were called to a kitchen blaze in Hatfield Road, St Albans, on Friday night.

Two engines from St Albans attended the scene at 7.40pm to find a tumble dryer alight.

Four firefighters using breathing apparatus extinguished the flames and a ventilator was used to clear the heavily smoke-logged house.

No one was injured in the incident, but the kitchen suffered extensive damage.
