Appeal for crash witnesses

POLICE on the Isle of Wight have appealed for more witnesses to a two car collision near Shalfleet.

A blue Renault Megane collided with a silver Vauxhall Astra at the junction of Yarmouth Road and Underwood Lane at about 3.30pm on Monday, July 30.

The collision left the Vauxhall driver, a 60-year-old Porchfield man, with serious but not life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

The Renault driver, a 27-year-old man from Newport, was also taken to hospital. He received minor injuries.

Witnesses should contact PC Geoff Turner of the Roads Policing Unit at Shanklin by phoning 101. Information can be given anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
