Be a devil for hospice

DAREDEVIL fundraisers can take on two thrilling challenges organised by the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

They can abseil 300ft down Portsmouth's Spinnaker Tower or take on a tandem skydive from 12,000ft.

Participants can be strapped in to a harness and abseil down the side of the tower on Sunday, June 23 but to guarantee a place on the fundraising challenge, a registration deposit of £50 must be given and a minimum of £150 must be raised in sponsorship.

Last year, a group of 42 fundraisers abseiled down the tower and raised £14,000 for patient care at the hospice.

This year, another group of fundraisers can also travel to the Army Parachute Association airfield, in Wiltshire, on Friday, July 26 and, while safely strapped to an instructor, throw themselves out a plane.

To take part in the tandem skydive, participants must pay a deposit of £50 and raise a minimum of £400 in sponsorship.

Ben Rust, community fundraiser at the hospice, said: "I’d encourage anyone with a love of adrenaline and adventure to have a look at these events and make 2013 the year they do something amazing for the hospice."

For registration forms and further information, visit www.iwhospice.org any hospice shop on the Island or contact Ben on 01983 528989.

Raised 14 quid for the hospice? I'd have expected more from 42 fundraisers
