Bond brings in the cash for hospice

Skyfall 'landed’ on the Isle of Wight on Saturday at Cineworld, where the Newport cinema staged a charity première in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

There were two Aston Martin Bond-style cars beside a red carpet entrance and vodka-martinis — shaken, not stirred of course — were handed out to the audience, many of whom were in Bond-inspired fancy dress.

The event was staged by the Earl Mountbatten Hospice fundraising team and raised more than £1,000 for the charity.

"All 96 seats in the deluxe screen sold-out and the six of us in the team — including our very own Goldfinger girl, Dani Johnson — took the difficult decision not to watch, so we could raise as much money as possible," said fundraising manager Karen Eeles.

"It was a great night and included prizes for the best fancy dress and a fundraising raffle too."
