(Nationwide League Third Division play-off second leg)

Orient win 4-2 on penalties LEYTON ORIENT keeper Scott Barrett sent the O's to Wembley with two stunning penalty-shootout saves.

Barrett's heroics were backed up by Dean Smith, Martin Ling, Dave Morrison and Matt Lockwood who all kept their nerve to send the O's to the play-off final against Scunthorpe United on Saturday, May 28.

Three times the O's nearly won it in extra time but the excellent Ling was twice denied and Amara Simba also went close.

More than 2000 Leyton Orient fans made the long trek up to Yorkshire to get behind their team and ensure a big-match atmosphere at Millmoor

The size of the crowd caused a 15-minute delay to the kick-off with the seated Orient supporters having to move to make way for late-arriving home fans.

Orient were forced into one change from Sunday's first leg because of Matt Joseph's ankle injury in the first leg.

Boss Tommy Taylor shuffled his pack bringing Mark Stimson into midfield alongside Ling and Tony Richards, and pushing Billy Beall into the wing-back role on the right flank.

It was Orient who made the most of a frantic opening and the first chance fell to Simba after five minutes. The Frenchman broke free but elected for power rather than precision and saw his shot clip the bar and flash over.

Rotherham's main threat again came from the towering Leo Fortune-West. Only once did West escape the attentions of Dean Smith, swivelling to fire over from just inside the area on ten minutes.

The Millers best attempt of the half came on 35 minutes when Andy Roscoe fed the on-rushing Danny Hudson on the edge of the box only for the midfielder to hurry his shot and send it high over Scott Barrett's bar.

The midfield battle continued after the interval with chances few and far between.

In the 57th minute a slip by Roger Joseph almost let United's Paul Warne in on goal, and though Joseph recovered, he could only foul the Rotherham forward and from the resulting free kick Roscoe's effort went just wide.

A hamstring injury forced Steve Watts out of the fray just three minutes after the break. His replacement, Alex Inglethorpe, nearly broke the deadlock after a smart passing move just past the hour, but he couldn't reach Tony Richards' centre.

Simba twice blazed over with half chances but the O's were grateful for a fabulous flying-save from Barrett in the final seconds of normal time. He brilliantly tipped Roscoe's curling free-kick round the post to keep the match alive.

LEYTON ORIENT: Barrett, Stimson (Sub: Hicks 125min), Lockwood, Smith, Joseph, Clark, Ling, Richards (Sub: Morrison: 84min) , Watts (Sub: Inglethorpe 48), Simba, Beall.
