BRIT-winners Blake will team up with local singers for their concert on Saturday.
The band will be joined on stage at Medina Theatre by the Voices of the Isle of Wight Choir, formed by Linda Filby-Borrett.
Linda established popular singing schools working with young and old, leading to an invite to teach the monks at Quarr Abbey, who form part of the Voices of the Isle of Wight Choir.
The choir, which has recorded several CDs and a DVD for charity, will join Blake for renditions of songs including Hallelujah, Jerusalem and Nessun Dorma.
Blake barritone Jules Knight said they came up with the idea of having a local choir joining them on stage after they toured schools across the country giving performances and talks about the music industry.
"The schools tour was part of the 'campaign’ for our 2nd Brit nomination, but it quickly became so much more than that to us. The kids really engaged with what we did and we were blown away by the talent and confidence of some of them in the mock 'X-Factor’ auditions that we held. With all that singing talent, we just couldn’t understand why choirs weren’t as popular as they used to be."
The Newport show is part of Blake’s UK Tour 'Love Lifts Us Up’ and the band will showcase tracks from the new album due out later this year, in addition to performing songs from their previous three albums.
