Car and bus collide

EMERGENCY services were called to the scene of a collision involving a car and a bus yesterday evening (Monday) in Copse Lane, Freshwater.

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service helped extract a casualty from the car and the injured person was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The fire service was called to the scene by police at 8.26pm. and at about 9pm a spokesperson said they were still there.

It is the third accident on Copse Lane in recent weeks. On October 13 a man suffered serious injuries after a collision between a car and a bus and a week earlier an elderly pedestrian was killed.

*A St Mary's Hospital spokeswoman said today (Tuesday) the casualty from last night's accident had now been discharged.
