The Metropolitan Police's Crimestoppers unit celebrated ten successful years at a recent dinner at New Scotland Yard.
Speaking at the dinner, Sir Paul Condon said calls to the freephone number had solved 39 murder cases in the capital and 2,681 arrests had been made since its launch in 1998.
"Crimestoppers attracts calls from criminals, people close to criminals and people living in fear of them," he said. "It offers these groups a unique way of communicating with police."
If you have any information for police about a crime call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
