AN item of sentimental value, cash, jewellery, hair products and charity boxes were stolen as burglars raided a hairdressers.

Head High Hairdressers, at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park, Bembridge, was burgled overnight between Thursday, October 4, and Friday, October 5. A laundrette at the holiday park was also burgled.

Stylist Emma Summers said the burglary was discovered when staff arrived for work the next morning.

"They took a heater, around £200 worth of hair products and two full charity boxes. They also took some random things, like a box of chocolates we had as a raffle prize," she said.

"Nothing especially valuable was taken, but it cost us a lot of business. We had placed an advert in that day’s County Press with 50 per cent off treatments, and we couldn’t get in to answer the phone."

An antique watch belonging to owner Sue Thompson, a gift from her mother to her late father, was also stolen. Sue had placed the watch under the till for safe-keeping after getting it repaired.

Police are investigating the burglaries and have appealed for anyone with information to call Newport Police Station on 101.
