Crash leads to pier closure

A CRASH on Ryde Esplanade led to the closure of the pier yesterday evening (Tuesday).

The incident occurred at around 7.30pm, according to the Isle of Wight ambulance service, which sent three vehicles to the scene.

Two casualties, understood to be the male driver of one vehicle and the passenger of another, were taken to St Mary's Hospital by ambulance. Details of their injuries were not available.

Police closed Ryde Pier shortly after 7.30pm, however it had re-opened by around 8.30pm according to police.
