A FORMER school site is to be sold for more than £800,000 by the Isle of Wight Council.
The West Wight Middle School is to be sold to Spectrum Housing for £825,000, following a delegated decision taken today (Monday) by council leader Cllr David Pugh.
As part of the deal, Freshwater Parish Council looks set to be paid £45,000 for a strip of land it owns, which would be needed by developers to make full use of the rest of the site.
Spectrum hopes to build 50 homes, 35 of which will be classed as affordable housing.

This is an astonishingly low price for a large building site. The purchaser seems to be a shell company - questions must be asked. This hasty deal has a whiff of something about it.

As highlighted on another IOW site Spectrum Housing (as stated in council's Paper) appears to be a shell company! No Assets and No cash in the Bank as per their last filed accounts in 2012???????What the hell is going on here and who is the beneficiary?
