COMMUTERS hoping to use the Red Jet service from Cowes faced hold-ups this morning when one of boats suffered a suspected gear box failure, marooning it at the town’s pontoon.
The vessel, Red Jet Four, became stuck on the pontoon at around 7am when it was reduced to using one engine and could not get off the pontoon due to the wind.
The vessel was eventually towed from the pontoon and made its way back to Southampton under its own power. Red Jet Five was brought into service which is now back to normal.
