RED Jet passenger services have been reduced to one boat an hour from the Isle of Wight until Tuesday.
Red Funnel said damage to the hull of Red Jet 5 had led to the boat being taken out of service for repairs, while Red Jet 3 is undergoing annual maintenance and is also unavailable.
With Southampton due to play QPR at home tomorrow (Saturday) the company has announced special arrangements for football fans, to ease pressure on the reduced passenger service.
Fans travelling to the match will be able to purchase a £5 return ticket on the East Cowes car ferry, if they have a valid ticket or season ticket for the match.
The Red Jet will leave Cowes at quarter past the hour and depart from Southampton from quarter to the hour.

I never get all the trouble that RF has with those boats. The fastcats have 99% efficiency, are much larger and operate in harsher waters.I blame the captains of the Red Jets... I'm sure they only had RJ3 (or 4) for a month or so until they drove it into so'ton pier wall!

while i agree with mike crowe the red jets are not very reliable i would like to point out red jet 3 was designed and built on the isle of wight at the same place as red jet 1 and 2 and i think red jet 5 was built in the usa. and i would like to point out to stephen elliot red jets 1 and 2 were sold to a company in russia years ago and no longer operate in this country.

Red Jet 1 and Red Jet 2 designed and built on the Isle of Wight. Red Jets 3,4 &5 built in Oz? Tasmania? and always seem to giving trouble.Lesson in that story somewhere?

Ok so correct me if I'm wrong, Red Jet 3 and 5 are out of action leaving 1,2 and 4. So where's the problem? Surely Red Funnel have more than Red Jet 4 on their books?

Might I tentatively suggest a bridge, although this may delay the kick off.

Surely this is Wightlink's fault too........
