RED FUNNEL cancelled two sailings due to drunk passengers onboard a ferry on Saturday night.

The ferry company said the police were called and it had cancelled the 9.45pm from Southampton and the 10.15pm from Cowes, Isle of Wight.

Following the incident Red Funnel chief executive James Fulford said on Twitter that the passengers who had jeopardised safety would be banned and the company would seek full prosecution.

He apologised to other customers for the inconvenience caused by the Red Jet having to turn back.

*Police confirmed they were called following a report that one passenger had been abusive to staff and other passengers had urinated onboard the boat.
