Fire at Ventnor property

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at a property in Ventnor this morning (Friday).

Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to the house in Downlands Crescent at 4.43am, where they found a fire at the back of the property.

An elderly person was removed from the house by firefighters and was examined at the scene by paramedics, but did not require hospital treatment.

Crews from Ventnor, Shanklin and Newport, attended along with the Red Cross, which provides support to people affected by house fires.

The incident was over by 5.30am.
