THE floating bridge will be out of action from Monday, April 7, while it undergoes its annual refit and inspection by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
The Isle of Wight Council said it expected the work would take about a week, depending on the progress of the inspection.
Island firms The Forge and Seatek Engineering have been commissioned to carry out the refit.
A passenger launch, which can carry cyclists, will operate between Cowes and East Cowes and there will be diversions via Newport will be in place for motorists.
