A PUBLIC consultation on the future of sport in Harlow was launched on Friday.

State of Play in Harlow, which forms part of the Harlow 2020 Vision, looks at current sporting facilities in the town and what residents would like to see in future.

Councillor Derek Fenny said: "We really do need to start regenerating our sports facilities now for the benefit of the town's people. Too many of them are inadequate, not cost efficient and don't meet the needs of local people.

"The purpose of this consultation is to find out what sports facilities local people want to see in Harlow. These views will help shape the town's future sports provision and assist the Harlow Sports Partnership in its work."

The comments received will form part of Harlow's Cultural Strategy which will be published next April.

The strategy will guide the development of sport, leisure, culture, heritage and art over the next three to five years.

The outcome of the consultation will also be included in the draft Harlow 2020 Vision Community Strategy.

A State of Play brochure is available from the 2020 vision Shop in Broad Walk, Harlow Sportcentre and Harlow Pool.
