Hertford Town 1

Wingate & Finchley 0

Wingate, without a win since Christmas and with only two goals to their credit in 12 games, outplayed promotion-seekers Hertford Town for much of the first half of Saturday's Ryman League Division Three duel.

But they lacked the finishing sting, and surrendered three more points.

They were unlucky not to take an early lead when Jordan Dineen, promoted from the U18s for his senior debut, fastened on to a long clearance from keeper Adam Solomon and crashed the ball against the bar from the edge of the box.

Wingate dominated early on with some flowing football, but Hertford came more into the game in the second half, and grabbed what proved to be the winner after 62 minutes.

Defender Lee Patmore crossed to Marc Das, who flicked on for Steve Jones to fire home from close range.

Wingate made a brave effort to save the day, but efforts from Andy Myers and Pearl were too high.

On Tuesday, Wingate and Finchley picked up a point in a 1-1 draw away to Flackwell Heath. After David Mitchell (28min) put Flackwell ahead, Adam Hart (41min) equalised, volleying home a Hadley Silver cross from 18 yards.
