Cockfosters 2

Hanwell Town 3

Hanwell Town had been hammered 12-0 the previous week, but a poor Cockfosters side could not even manage a home point against them on Saturday.

It was a surprise Hanwell took 40 minutes to open their account against lethargic opponents.

It was only the heroics of keeper Steve Potter, deputising for Dave Finch, that kept Cockfosters in the match.

Hanwell went ahead when Trevor Canoville fired home from Robert Taylor's cross.

Cockfosters missed a great chance in the 55th minute when Paul Flatt was felled in the box, but keeper Joel Grover saved the spot kick.

Two minutes later, Cockfosters went 2-0 down when, with their defence in disarray, Steve Smith scored.

Though Danny Hutchings replied, Smith got his second to put Hanwell 3-1 up, before substitute Jason Grostrate completed the scoring.
