THE Solent Coastguard helicopter and paramedics were called to Cowes today (Thursday) to help a yachtsman with a head injury.
A coastguard crew member was winched down to the yacht, off the Isle of Wight, shortly after 1.15pm, where it was found the man was conscious and not as badly injured as first thought.
The yacht moored at Cowes Yacht Haven where the patient was transferred to a waiting ambulance and taken to St Mary's Hospital.
It is thought the man was hit by the yacht's boom.
