This is a complaint about parking restrictions. I am a carer and I constantly come across the usual yellow lines, but also the roads which restrict parking to permit holders only.
Many of my clients are in very old houses and are elderly, which means they do not have drives.
My biggest headache is where on earth do I park, as the permit-only parking is becoming more common. I have a choice of either walking miles or taking a chance. I came across a kind parking attendant once who took pity on my unofficial “carer on call” sticker in my windscreen. He ignored my car because, as he said, I am doing a worthwhile job and should be allowed to do so.
I have received a ticket before now, and although I questioned it with the authority, I still had to pay. We carers only want to help people, but it is becoming more difficult. Could the council not make some concession for carers?
