ISLE of Wight voices were on-song at a singing workshop led by two of the country’s leading conductors, Grenville Jones and Mark De-Lisser.

Around 150 people signed up to the workshop, which preceded an evening concert featuring the IW Gospel Choir, conducted by Neil Barker, and Grenville’s renowned Bath Chorus, all at the Minster Church of Sts Thomas, Newport. Grenville Jones has a worldwide reputation for getting people to sing and featured on Children in Need last November as one of only eight choir conductors asked by the BBC to train a national youth choir, with Gareth Malone.

Grenville was also a top name on the BBC’s Last Choir Standing shows, where his Bath Male Choir reached the finals.

The afternoon of the concert brought together Grenville and Mark, who has toured with Russell Watson and is director of the Singology Choir Project, in the singing workshop ahead of an evening of music.

Grenville said: "It was a fantastic weekend; we finished up the concert with a big piece which had the church rocking."
