The Jones family, Charlie (72), Trevor (49) and Ashton (16) were among the Isle of Wight runners taking part in the Great South Run.
MORE THAN 400 people from the Isle of Wight took part in the biggest ever Great South Run ten-mile race on Sunday.
Around 30,000 people took part in the mini, junior, five kilometre, and ten-mile races in Portsmouth, with 450 Islanders joining in over the whole weekend.
Runners from the Island raced for a host of charities including Layla's Trust, who provide bereavement support to families who have lost children, Southampton General Hospital’s neurological department, and Myeloma UK, a charity that specialises in patients of blood cancer.
Three generations of one family ran the race together for the first time, in aid of a charity close to their hearts.
Ashton Jones, 16, and his father Trevor Jones, 49, of East Cowes, and Trevor's father, Charlie Jones, 72, of Binstead, ran on Sunday for the charity Help for Heroes.
Ashton said: "My step-brother is in Afghanistan and Help for Heroes means a lot to all my family, and the whole country."
The three generations ran impressive times with Ashton finishing after 1hr 24 minutes, Trevor in 1hr 30 minutes, and Granddad Charlie in 1hr 43 minutes.
Ashton said: "My Granddad is amazing. He's still running and keeping fit. Having three generations running together is really good."
He added: "I really enjoyed the race and had a great day. I will definitely do it again next year for Help for Heroes."
