Was it or wasn’t it? Johnny Depp, or his lookalike, on the Island in July.
JOHNNY Depp rumours have been heightened, following an interview from Michelin-starred chef Robert Thompson in The Times last Saturday.
Mr Thompson’s Ventnor hotel, The Hambrough, was featured in the Cool Hotel Guide column on the Weekend travel section.
In the article, Mr Thompson told The Times: "We want to change the Isle of Wight. People still think coming here is like stepping back in time. But it’s up-and-coming. Johnny Depp just bought a place in Bonchurch."
A spokesman for the hotel declined to comment further on the interview but it has followed months of speculation the Hollywood star had bought a house on the Island.
Earlier this year, the County Press reported on suspected sightings of Johnny Depp. However they appeared to be of a visit from a look-a-like.
