Lorry comes off road

A LORRY ended up in a ditch after coming off the road this morning (Wednesday).

The truck, owned by concrete supplier Richard Carter Ltd, was overtaking a roadsweeper at around 7.45am at Hale Common, near Branstone Farm, when it slipped off the edge of the road and onto its side.

Company owner Mr Carter said: "The road has just been resurfaced and there was a road sweeper clearing it up. The driver passed him and came off the edge of the road into the ditch. He is all right though, he wasn't injured at all."

@Maria, apologies for that. I did put in my comment that I 'thought' it was the same people, for which I do apologise. I didn't want to unjustly suggest any lack of care or responsibility on behalf of the company. Obviously you have done your homework. Just out of curiosity, do you know who it was?

Just to clarify, Michael Watson.
The mixer that overturned about 3 years ago just past the tip along Briddlesford Road was not the same firm and definitely not the same driver.
Perhaps you should do your homework before posting comments like that !!!

i agree with tom, im a lorry driver and i would of overtaken the roadsweeper too, there shoulnt be much of the chippings to sweep up now anyway as they sweep the road an hour or so after they put the tar and chippings down so that first sweep removes most of the excess chippings, anything the sweeper would be picking up today would of been the odd handfull here and there, certainly nothing to make it seem to make it unsafe to pass. @ tom- glad to know the driver is ok

@michael- road sweepers move at like 1mph. if you had a job then you would probably overtake like everyone else does. especially if you have concrete goin hard in the drum.
