Main road to be shut for seven weeks

I think its from the 24th September, actually, so less than a week's notice, and yes, the signs are still a handwritten scrawl and hard to read!
Why on earth haven't they planned this better, and split the works to two periods, one each side of the Somerton roundabout so that the whole top end of Newport Road doesn't have to be closed off and people can use Three Gates road instead of having to drive all the way around via Park Road?

I have just withnessed the contractors putting up handwritten signs, stating the works will be from 24th October for 10 Weeks. Your article states 7 weeks so which is it?

I hope the signs that are used next time are better than the hand scrawled rubbish that was used last time. Black felt tip pen on yellow boards that were totaly unprofessional and almost impossible to read. What a way to warn of a 7 week closure of a section of a busy Island main road. If moneys that tight lets hope they use better surface dressing than the last lot on Newport road or it will be shut again.

If ROBERT SMITH even used the road then he would have noticed the signs put in place by the contractors (and then intelligently removed by the council) that were there for about two weeks previous.

Typical example of the council giving us AS MUCH notice as posable when a major road is GOING TO BE CLOSED FOR SEVEN WEEKS? GREAT LESS than a week........! Oh we it is the ISLE of WIGHT CONCIL we are lucky they gave us this much......
