Best speaker at Blackpool

Kingston student Alsion Angus was voted best speaker from the Wessex area at the recent National Union of Students annual conference in Blackpool.

Alsion, re-elected as the university's president, argued that a black students officer on the NUS National Executive would be a major step forward for equal opportunities.

New treasures

Today's Paintings, Tomorrow's Treasures, is the title of a new exhibition by Berrylands Artists. It opens at the Christian Alliance Hall in King Charles Road, Surbiton, on May 30. Admission is free.

Girls on top

Surbiton High Junior Girls swept the board at the English National Preparatory Schools Ski Championship at Hemel Hempsted.

Their male counterparts managed fourth in their first ever race.
