ISLE of Wight customers of phone company Talk Talk have been affected with signal problems due to a damaged cable in Portsmouth today (Thursday).

A spokesman said engineers were working to repair the damage on the mainland and confirmed customers in Newport and Freshwater had been affected.

A Talk Talk spokesperson said: "We hope to get it repaired as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience."

It came a day after many Sky customers across the Isle of Wight were left without phone and broadband services for much of the day due to work on a BT Openreach exchange.
