A MOTOR cruiser off the Isle of Wight was towed to safety by Cowes RNLI Lifeboat yesterday (Wednesday).

The 23ft Tallugh Holiday, had anchored near Gurnard Ledge after developing mechanical problems.

Solent coastguards called the lifeboat to help the stranded cruiser which the lifeboat did after completing a pre-arranged task at Calshot.

The cruiser, which was being used by a couple for a two-day holiday trip out of Gosport, was eventually towed to Shepards Wharf Marina, Cowes.
